Just wading into the battle at the ninth hour to confuse things even more.
I am assumed to be an atheist because I do not believe in the personal gods that major religions present to the world. I have questioned what I see as major contradictions among Christians and biblical interpretation.
That does not mean that I have exclude the possibility that there is an intelligence that pervades the universe; or that I do not commune with nature. I don't mean the word driven type of intelligence that humans use. Rather a connectedness throughout the universe making it aware of its own development and existence. This is not a new idea and was in vogue long before today's major religions were invented.
I am just a tiny carbon unit on the surface of one of billions of planets. I am in awe of galaxies that are hundreds of millions of light years away. What do I really know? I have no fixed view. No belief that I identify with. I hide behind my gladiator avatar but remain open-minded.

if, when you come out of "her," the most glaring and obvious of things that with you is anger, hatred, intolerance, irritability, deceit, loose conduct (and i mean the really loose, not just the typical) and things like these... such that when you communicate with others, including but not necessarily those still in "her"... these things a manifest... are you proving "her" right... that life is "better" on the inside, at least as far as "they" can "see" it?.

I like being shunned - how about you?
by THE GLADIATOR init was painful at first but now i see the advantages of not having needy relatives spending the weekend with me and scoffing my food and raiding my bar.
my wife is happier too.
it's like having a heavy rucksack removed.. i have 39 jw relatives and 38 of them shun me along with the army of ex-friends who remain in the tower.

So glad there are others who like being shunned.
To clarify. None wants to be shunned by their friends and family. But when it happens we have to accept reality and cope. We go through the stages of sadness, depression, emptiness and at last anger. After a while we find we have survived and we build a new life for ourselves. After some years have passed, you ask yourself this;
Would I go back to the way I was?
Do I want to be with these heartless, indoctrinated people who haven't the slightest idea of how to think for themselves?
Could I spend my Sunday morning plaguing the locals with my evangelistic teachings, then sit in a kingdom hall and listen to all that drive?
Do I want people who think in an indoctrinated way to approve of me?
Am I still able to share a group identity, and if I am would, it be with this group.
If you can answer, no to just half these questions then you don't belong with them. The fact that they make a point of avoiding you, makes it so much easier to see with clarity what needs to be done to make your life right for you. You now have a clean slate to work with.
It is a clear and definite break from a life that did not suit you then and would be an impossibility now. In time you will like being shunned. You may even insist on it.
